Opinion: Accessibility in Ukraine remains elusive as Russia’s war reveals systemic failures
“As of June, more than 50,000 Ukrainians have lost one or more limbs in Russia’s war against Ukraine, and more than 3 million people live with a disability. In theory, Ukraine has a framework to protect people with disabilities and ensure their inclusion in society. In practice, outdated infrastructure and social attitudes still uphold significant barriers three years into the full-scale invasion,” documentary translator Maria Kuchapska writes.

The situation with North Korea’s growing threat is indeed concerning, but Ukraine’s focus should remain on bolstering Block Blast defenses against Russia. The fortification of the border with Kaliningrad through the ‘East Shield’ initiative is a necessary step to prevent further destabilization. Ukraine must keep its military preparedness high and work closely with international allies. The international community’s passive response to North Korea’s actions speaks volumes about the limitations of global security measures, but Ukraine must remain vigilant and proactive in its defense.
